In the Volkswagen ID.4, the electrically operated sunshade is designed to provide enhanced comfort and protection from sunlight. It functions when the ignition is switched on and can be conveniently controlled using the touch-sensitive function keys in the headliner or through the Infotainment system settings.
Depending on the equipment level of your Volkswagen ID.4, the sunshade can also be operated using voice commands, allowing for a more intuitive and hands-free driving experience (→ Vehicle settings menu).

. If resistance or an obstacle is detected, the sunshade will automatically reverse direction and reopen.
1. Determine the cause preventing the sunshade from closing.
2. Attempt to close the sunshade again.
If resistance persists, open the sunshade fully. Shortly afterward, you can attempt closing again without pinch protection.
3. If necessary, proceed with closing the sunshade without pinch protection.

1. Try to close the sunshade again.
2. If unsuccessful, swipe forward on the function key within 5 seconds → fig. 1 and hold until the sunshade closes completely.
This overrides the pinch protection system.
3. If the Volkswagen ID.4 sunshade still does not close, contact an authorized Volkswagen dealer or Volkswagen Service Facility for professional assistance.
If the control surface is released during closing, the sunshade will automatically reopen as a safety precaution.
Control is responding differently than expected
Moisture, dust, or grease on the control surface may impair proper operation in the Volkswagen ID.4.
1. Keep the control panel clean and dry at all times for optimal responsiveness.

In the Volkswagen ID.4, heat-insulating windshields may include an infrared-reflective coating and, depending on equipment, integrated heating elements. To ensure proper operation of electronic accessories such as toll devices, a special uncoated area—known as the communication window—is located near the interior rearview mirror.
These areas must remain unobstructed. Covering them with stickers or accessories, either inside or outside, may interfere with signal transmission and lead to malfunction of connected devices.
