The functions described below in the Volkswagen ID.4 may vary depending on the vehicle configuration and regional availability. Certain advanced driver assistance features are only offered in selected markets and with specific equipment packages.
Predictive ACC
In the Volkswagen ID.4, when equipped with Dynamic Road Sign Display and a navigation-enabled Infotainment system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) can intelligently adapt the vehicle speed to detected speed limits and route data. This predictive behavior enhances both comfort and efficiency by anticipating driving conditions ahead.
Passing
When you activate the turn signal to overtake (left signal in right-hand traffic), the Volkswagen ID.4 ACC system supports the maneuver by gently accelerating and slightly reducing the distance to the vehicle ahead. Importantly, the vehicle will not exceed the preset speed during this process, ensuring controlled and safe overtaking.
If no vehicle is detected ahead after a lane change, the Volkswagen ID.4 will automatically accelerate up to the previously selected cruising speed.
Stop-and-go traffic
The ACC system in the Volkswagen ID.4 is capable of bringing the vehicle to a complete stop in traffic. After stopping, the system remains active for a short period, and the instrument cluster indicates readiness to continue driving.
Vehicles equipped with comfort drive Travel Assist allow this standby period to be extended simply by keeping your hands on the steering wheel.
As long as ACC remains active, the Volkswagen ID.4 will automatically resume driving once the vehicle ahead starts moving, making it particularly convenient in heavy traffic conditions.
Extend drive-readiness or reactivate:
1. Press the
button.
Or: Vehicles with Travel Assist: Hold the steering wheel again to confirm driver presence.
Driving off after the readiness phase has expired and the vehicle ahead has already moved:
1. Press the
button.
Or: Briefly press the accelerator pedal to initiate movement.
The ACC system in the Volkswagen ID.4 will deactivate automatically in the following situations:
WARNING
If ACC indicates readiness and the vehicle ahead begins to move, the Volkswagen ID.4 may start driving automatically. Obstacles may not always be detected in time, which can lead to dangerous situations, accidents, or serious injuries.
Right-side passing restriction (left-hand drive vehicles: left-side passing restriction)

In the Volkswagen ID.4, vehicles equipped with Right Lane Passing Prevention will gently reduce speed if a slower vehicle is detected in the adjacent passing lane, helping to prevent unlawful overtaking. This function typically operates at speeds above approximately 80 km/h (50 mph).
For vehicles without this feature, it is recommended to manually cancel ACC when driving on multi-lane roads where slower vehicles are present in the overtaking lane.
