Volkswagen ID.4: Attaching a child restraint with ISOFIX or i-Size

Overview of ISOFIX or i-Size child restraint installation

In the Volkswagen ID.4, ISOFIX and i-Size anchorage points are clearly designated depending on the vehicle configuration and regional specifications.

The table below illustrates the approved seating positions for ISOFIX or i-Size child restraints within the Volkswagen ID.4.

• Size class: Indicates the permitted body size or weight range for the child restraint, as shown on the ECE certification label.
• X: Seat position is not suitable for ISOFIX or i-Size child restraints of this category.
• IL-SU: Suitable for ISOFIX child restraints with semi-universal approval. Always consult the manufacturer's vehicle compatibility list.
• IUF: Suitable for ISOFIX child restraints with universal approval.
• i-U: Suitable for forward- and rear-facing i-Size child restraints with universal approval.
• i-UF: Suitable for forward-facing i-Size child restraints with universal approval.
• i-B: Suitable for ISOFIX booster seats (Group 2/3) and i-Size child restraints for children approximately 100–150 cm tall.

Attaching child restraints with ISOFIX or i-Size

The ISOFIX and i-Size anchorage points in the Volkswagen ID.4 are marked with corresponding symbols to make them easy to identify.

1. Carefully read and follow all relevant safety information (→ Child restraints).

2. If necessary, fold open the protective covers for the ISOFIX or i-Size anchor points.

3. Insert the child restraint connectors in the direction indicated and push them firmly into the ISOFIX or i-Size anchor points → fig. 1.

The connectors must engage securely with an audible click.

4. Pull on both sides of the child restraint to ensure it is securely locked into place.

For enhanced safety in the Volkswagen ID.4, always double-check that the child seat is firmly attached and does not move excessively after installation.
