Volkswagen ID.4: Checking the tire pressure

Incorrect tire pressure in the Volkswagen ID.4 can negatively impact handling, increase tire wear, and may even lead to sudden tire failure → Volkswagen ID.4 low tire pressure warning uneven wear and safety risk.

Maintaining the correct tire pressure is especially critical when driving the Volkswagen ID.4 at higher speeds, as it directly affects stability, braking performance, and overall safety.

  • Check the tire pressure of the Volkswagen ID.4 at least once a month.
  • Always measure tire pressure when the tires are cold. The specified values apply only to cold tires. Warm tires will show higher pressure, so never release air from warm tires to adjust pressure.
  • Adjust tire pressure according to the load carried by the Volkswagen ID.4 → fig. 1.
  • After adjusting tire pressure, always reinstall valve caps securely and follow the instructions for the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
  • Use only the tire pressure values specified for the Volkswagen ID.4. Never exceed the maximum pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.
  • If the installed tires differ from factory specifications, ensure that the correct tire pressure values are determined and applied.

Geolocation of the tire inflation pressure label

The correct tire pressure values for the Volkswagen ID.4 are listed on a label located either on the driver’s door pillar → fig. 2 or inside the charging socket flap.

  2. Tire pressure values for the rear axle of the Volkswagen ID.4.
  1. Important: always check tire pressure when tires are cold.
  2. Recommended tire pressure for partial load.
  3. Depending on equipment: comfort tire pressure for partial load.
  4. Recommended tire pressure for full vehicle load.

The appearance and content of the tire pressure label may vary depending on the equipment of the Volkswagen ID.4 and may include additional approved tire sizes.

Comfort tire pressure

Some versions of the Volkswagen ID.4 include a comfort tire pressure setting → fig. 1. This setting improves ride comfort by slightly adjusting tire pressure. However, note that using comfort pressure may increase energy consumption and slightly reduce efficiency.

WARNING

Insufficient tire pressure in the Volkswagen ID.4 can cause sudden air loss, tire rupture, or tread separation during driving.

Incorrect tire pressure also reduces tire lifespan and negatively affects handling.

This may lead to serious accidents or fatal injuries.

  • Check tire pressure regularly, at least once per month and before long trips.
  • Always adjust tire pressure based on the vehicle load.
  • Never reduce pressure in warm tires.

WARNING

Excessive speed and overloading the Volkswagen ID.4 can lead to overheating of tires, sudden failure, or tread separation.

This can cause accidents and serious injuries.

  • Never exceed the maximum load capacity of the installed tires.
  • Never exceed the maximum speed rating specified for the tires.

NOTICE

Improper use of a tire pressure gauge may damage the valve.

  • Ensure the gauge is positioned straight on the valve stem without tilting.

Volkswagen ID.4 low tire pressure increases energy consumption range impactLow tire pressure in the Volkswagen ID.4 can increase energy consumption and reduce driving range.
