The following description applies to left-hand drive versions of the Volkswagen ID.4. In this configuration, position L controls the driver-side mirror, while position R adjusts the passenger-side mirror.
For right-hand drive models of the Volkswagen ID.4, the same functions apply in reverse orientation.
Adjusting outside mirrors
1. Switch on the ignition in your Volkswagen ID.4.
2. Rotate the control knob in the driver’s door until the desired function symbol is illuminated → fig. 1.
3. Move the knob forward, backward, left, or right to precisely adjust the selected outside mirror.
The selected function indicator remains active while adjustment is in progress.

Activate outside mirror heating. In the Volkswagen ID.4, mirror heating operates when ambient temperatures are below approximately 20 ºC (68 ºF), delivering maximum performance immediately after activation before stabilizing according to temperature conditions.

Activating outside mirror functions
Some advanced mirror functions in the Volkswagen ID.4 must first be enabled via the Infotainment system settings (→ Vehicle settings menu) before they can be used.
Synchronized mirror adjustment
This feature allows the Volkswagen ID.4 to adjust both mirrors simultaneously for convenience:
1. Turn the rotary knob to position L.
2. Adjust the left mirror. The right mirror will automatically follow the same adjustments.
3. If necessary, fine-tune the passenger-side mirror by switching to position R and adjusting it separately.
Folding the outside mirrors in while parking
Depending on equipment, the outside mirrors of the Volkswagen ID.4 can automatically fold in or out when the vehicle is locked or unlocked.
For this function to work, the control knob must be in the

Save the passenger-side outside mirror settings when reversing
1. Unlock the Volkswagen ID.4 using the key associated with the desired settings.
2. Engage reverse gear.
3. Adjust the passenger-side mirror to clearly view the curb or surrounding area.
4. Shift the transmission to neutral.
5. Switch off the ignition.
The mirror position will be stored and linked to the vehicle key.
Opening the front passenger outside mirror settings for driving in reverse
1. Turn the mirror control knob to the passenger-side adjustment position.
2. With the ignition on, select reverse gear.
The mirror will automatically move to the stored position in the Volkswagen ID.4.
The mirror returns to its normal position once the vehicle exceeds approximately 15 km/h (9 mph) or when the control knob is moved.
