Prerequisites for activating the vehicle's drive system

To activate the drive system in the Volkswagen ID.4, the following conditions must be met:

✓ The high-voltage battery has a sufficient charge level.

✓ The vehicle is not connected to a charging cable.

✓ The battery temperature is within the operational range.

✓ A valid remote control key is inside the vehicle.

Activating the vehicle's drive system

1. Press and hold the brake pedal, then engage the selector lever into the desired position. The Volkswagen ID.4 will provide visual and audible confirmation when it is ready to drive.

2. If the drive system does not activate, repeat the process or perform an emergency start if required.

WARNING

The Volkswagen ID.4 operates very quietly due to its electric drivetrain. Pedestrians and other road users may not hear the vehicle approaching, especially at low speeds. This increases the risk of accidents.

• Always remain alert and assume that others may not hear your vehicle.

Electronic engine sound

The Volkswagen ID.4 uses an electronic sound generator to alert nearby pedestrians of the vehicle’s presence.

Once the drive system is activated, the electronic sound is automatically enabled.

As speed increases, the sound gradually fades out.

WARNING

The electronic warning sound in the Volkswagen ID.4 may be reduced or muffled if the front grille is covered with snow or dirt. This can make the vehicle harder to detect by others.

• Check and clean the front grille area before driving if necessary.
• Always assume that your vehicle may not be heard by other road users.
