Volkswagen ID.4: Activation word

The Volkswagen ID.4 uses a ring memory system to continuously monitor spoken input for the activation word. This allows the system to respond instantly without permanently storing conversations.

Once the activation word is detected, voice control starts automatically. The ring memory is overwritten approximately every 15 seconds, and no voice data is transmitted or stored externally. If the activation word feature is disabled, the ring memory is also inactive.

Switching activation word on and off

If the activation word is turned off, voice control cannot be activated via speech.

Troubleshooting

Voice control is not responding

• Voice control may not be available in the selected language.
• Ensure the correct system language is set in the Volkswagen ID.4 Infotainment system.
• Activate voice control using the activation word or the Talk button on the steering wheel.
• Voice recognition may fail due to a system error. Contact qualified specialists if necessary. Volkswagen recommends visiting an authorized Volkswagen dealer or service center.

Voice control is giving unsuitable responses

• The system may have misunderstood the command.
• Repeat the command clearly and naturally.

Voice control is not performing the function

• The requested function may not be supported by voice control.
• The function may not be available in the selected language.
• Certain system settings may prevent execution.
• The command may not have been recognized correctly.
• Insufficient data may limit functionality.
