Charge status display

In the Volkswagen ID.4, the current charge level of the high-voltage battery is clearly displayed in the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit using the symbol along with a percentage value → fig. 1 -1-. The graphical representation of the battery changes dynamically depending on the charge status, allowing the driver to instantly assess the remaining energy available for driving.

Range display

The estimated driving range of the Volkswagen ID.4 is shown in kilometers (km) or miles (mi), depending on the selected unit → fig. 1 -2-.

This value is continuously calculated and updated based on driving behavior, energy consumption, and environmental conditions such as temperature and terrain.

For this reason, the displayed range in the Volkswagen ID.4 may fluctuate, even when the high-voltage battery is fully charged, reflecting real-time driving efficiency.

Reserve range

Warning levels for the reserve range :

Yellow

The charge level has reached 20 % or less → fig. 2. At this stage, it is recommended to plan charging soon.

Red

The charge level has dropped to 10 % or less → fig. 2. Immediate charging of the Volkswagen ID.4 is strongly advised.

Charge the high-voltage battery as soon as possible to prevent unexpected vehicle shutdowns or reduced driving capability → fig. 2 !

WARNING

Driving the Volkswagen ID.4 with a low battery charge level can lead to breakdowns in traffic, increasing the risk of accidents and serious or fatal injuries.

• Always ensure that the high-voltage battery of the Volkswagen ID.4 has a sufficient charge level before starting a journey.

WARNING

If the high-voltage battery reaches the reserve range, the driving characteristics of the Volkswagen ID.4, such as acceleration performance, may change significantly. This can lead to hazardous situations.

• Adjust your speed and driving style according to road, traffic, and weather conditions as well as the current battery charge level.
• Ensure sufficient battery charge at all times for safe operation.

NOTICE

Self-discharge of the high-voltage battery, for example during long periods of inactivity, can damage the battery, especially at high ambient temperatures and low charge levels.

• Maintain an adequate battery charge level in your Volkswagen ID.4 during storage.

In very low ambient temperatures, the Volkswagen ID.4 may experience reduced electric driving range due to battery performance limitations when cold.
