1. Control for the child safety lock.

The electric childproof lock in the Volkswagen ID.4 is designed to prevent rear doors and electric windows from being opened unintentionally, enhancing safety for children and passengers.

Switching the electric childproof lock on or off

• Switching on: press the control → fig. 1 -1- to activate the child safety function in the Volkswagen ID.4.
• Switching off: press the control again to deactivate the function.

If the child safety lock is active, the yellow indicator light in the control will illuminate → fig. 1 -1-, confirming that the system is engaged in the Volkswagen ID.4.

Error message in the Infotainment system or instrument cluster display

If the electric child safety lock in the Volkswagen ID.4 is activated while a rear door is open, the system may not switch correctly for that door.

In this case, an error message will appear in the Infotainment system or instrument cluster.

1. Press the child safety lock button again to synchronize the status of all rear doors.

2. If the error persists, have the Volkswagen ID.4 inspected by a qualified technician. Volkswagen recommends visiting an authorized Volkswagen dealer or service facility.

WARNING

When the electric childproof lock is active in the Volkswagen ID.4, the affected doors cannot be opened from the inside. This may trap occupants inside the vehicle in an emergency, leading to serious or fatal injuries.

• Never leave children or individuals requiring assistance unattended in the Volkswagen ID.4 when the doors are locked.

WARNING

Leaving children, vulnerable persons, or animals unattended in the Volkswagen ID.4 can expose them to extreme temperatures and dangerous conditions.

• Always ensure that all passengers are supervised when the vehicle is locked.
