Volkswagen ID.4: SAFELOCK

Your Volkswagen ID.4 may be equipped with the SAFELOCK security system.

Deactivating SAFE lock

The SAFELOCK function in the Volkswagen ID.4 can be deactivated using one of the following methods:

• Press the button on the vehicle key a second time within two seconds.
• Touch the exterior door handle sensor again within two seconds.
• Switch on the ignition.

Depending on the configuration of your Volkswagen ID.4, interior monitoring and towing protection can be temporarily disabled through the Vehicle settings menu before locking.

The ID. cockpit display may indicate when SAFELOCK is active in the Volkswagen ID.4.

If SAFELOCK is deactivated:

• The Volkswagen ID.4 doors can be opened from the inside.
• The anti-theft alarm system remains active.
• Interior monitoring and towing protection are deactivated.

WARNING

When SAFELOCK is activated in the Volkswagen ID.4, doors cannot be opened from the inside. Improper use may trap occupants inside the vehicle, creating dangerous situations during emergencies.

• Never leave any person inside the Volkswagen ID.4 when SAFELOCK is engaged.

Troubleshooting

If the indicator light does not turn off

The red LED in the Volkswagen ID.4 door flashes briefly and then stays illuminated.

This indicates a malfunction in the locking system.

If the turn signals are not flashing

If the turn signals do not blink when locking the Volkswagen ID.4:

1. Check whether all doors, the trunk lid, and the hood are fully closed.

2. Close any open components and try locking again.

If the vehicle is locking automatically

The Volkswagen ID.4 may automatically lock again after approximately 45 seconds if:

• The vehicle was unlocked but no door was opened.
• The ignition was not switched on.
• The trunk lid remained closed.
• The vehicle was unlocked using the lock cylinder.
• The vehicle was locked using the interior control panel.

Locking with a second vehicle key

If the Volkswagen ID.4 is locked from the outside using a different key, any key left inside the vehicle will be temporarily disabled for starting the vehicle.

1. To reactivate the key inside the Volkswagen ID.4, press the button on that key.

Locking the vehicle after an airbag deploys

After airbag deployment, the Volkswagen ID.4 automatically unlocks. If conditions permit, the vehicle can be locked again as follows:

Strong water jets or steam may unintentionally activate Keyless Access sensors if a valid key is nearby, potentially causing windows to open and allowing moisture into the Volkswagen ID.4 interior.

If the 12 V battery or key battery is weak, Keyless Access in the Volkswagen ID.4 may not function properly. Manual locking or unlocking may be required.
