Fasten safety belts reminder for the front seats

In the Volkswagen ID.4, the seat belt reminder system continuously monitors whether the driver and front passenger have fastened their safety belts. If the belts are not fastened when driving begins, at speeds above approximately 25 km/h (15 mph), or if a belt is unfastened while driving, an audible warning tone will sound for up to 126 seconds if the seat is occupied by an adult.

At the same time, the red warning symbol in the Volkswagen ID.4 Digital Cockpit will flash to alert the driver.

When the ignition is switched on, the red warning light will only turn off once all detected occupants have properly fastened their safety belts.

When the ignition is switched on, the Volkswagen ID.4 displays the rear seat belt status → fig. 2 in the instrument cluster, allowing the driver to quickly check whether rear passengers have fastened their belts.

A green symbol indicates that the occupant in the corresponding rear seat has fastened their safety belt correctly.

A red symbol indicates that the occupant has not fastened their safety belt.

A white symbol indicates that the seat is currently unoccupied.

If a rear seat belt is unfastened during driving, the corresponding symbol will remain red. Additionally, the red warning light will flash. At speeds above approximately 25 km/h (15 mph), an audible warning will also sound for up to 126 seconds in the Volkswagen ID.4.

WARNING

The seat belt reminder system in the Volkswagen ID.4 is primarily designed to detect adult occupants. Lightweight passengers, especially children, may not always be detected accurately.

In some cases, child seats or booster cushions may limit system detection. This can result in the system not recognizing that a seat belt is unfastened, increasing the risk of serious or fatal injuries in an accident.

• Always ensure that all passengers in the Volkswagen ID.4, especially children, are properly secured with correctly fastened safety belts or appropriate child restraint systems.
