Volkswagen ID.4: Impact on online vehicle functions

If data transfer is restricted in the Volkswagen ID.4, certain online features such as Over-the-Air updates may not be available.

These restrictions also apply to future online features introduced for the Volkswagen ID.4.

Offline mode

• All We Connect services are disabled and no data is transmitted.
• The eSIM module is deactivated.

  All online-dependent vehicle functions are unavailable.

• Stored system data such as emergency numbers may not be updated.
• No signal strength indicator is shown.

Legally required services remain active even in offline mode.

Online mode

• All services can send and receive data based on user settings.
• The eSIM is active.

  All connected features are fully operational.

• Signal strength is displayed.

Online mode with location data

• All services are active and data transmission is enabled.
• The primary user can view vehicle location via the app or myVolkswagen portal.
• The eSIM remains active.

  Full connectivity is available for all supported features.

• Signal strength is visible.

Introduction

The personalization function in the Volkswagen ID.4 allows individual settings, such as climate control preferences, to be stored in your Volkswagen ID account.

When you log in to the Infotainment system, your personalized settings are automatically applied. Any changes made are saved online and synchronized across compatible Volkswagen systems, ensuring a consistent and convenient driving experience in the Volkswagen ID.4.
