Volkswagen ID.4: Putting the windshield wipers in the service position

When the Volkswagen ID.4 windshield wipers are in the service position, the wiper arms can be safely lifted away from the windshield. This is particularly useful for maintenance tasks such as replacing wiper blades or cleaning the windshield thoroughly.

Activate the service position using the windshield wiper lever

1. Ensure that the hood, driver door, and front passenger door of the Volkswagen ID.4 are properly closed.

2. Switch the ignition off and then on again.

3. Briefly press the windshield wiper lever toward the "single wipe" position (→ Windshield wipers) to activate the service mode.

Activate the service position using the exit menu

The service position for the windshield wipers in the Volkswagen ID.4 can also be activated through the exit menu for a limited time. To access this feature, the ignition must be switched off.

Lifting the windshield wiper arms

1. Move the wiper arms into the service position before lifting → .

2. Always hold and lift the wiper arms only at the point where they connect to the wiper blade to avoid damage.

Placing the windshield wiper arms back

1. Before driving your Volkswagen ID.4, carefully return the wiper arms to their original position against the windshield, holding them only at the mounting point.

2. Switch on the ignition and briefly press the windshield wiper lever toward the "single wipe" position.

The wiper arms will automatically return to their normal resting position.

NOTICE

Improper handling of the windshield wiper arms may cause damage to the hood, windshield, or the wiper mechanism of the Volkswagen ID.4.

• Always lift the wiper arms gently and only when they are in the designated service position.
• Do not open the hood while the wiper arms are raised.
• Before driving, ensure the wiper arms are correctly positioned against the windshield.
