Volkswagen ID.4: Steering wheel heating

In the Volkswagen ID.4, the steering wheel heating system is designed to enhance driving comfort in cold weather conditions. This function operates only when the vehicle’s drive system is activated.

Switch the steering wheel heating on or off conveniently via the Infotainment system.

Heating levels for the steering wheel heating

The heating intensity of the steering wheel in the Volkswagen ID.4 is displayed using color indicators in the Infotainment system. At the highest level, all three indicators under are illuminated in red, indicating maximum heating performance.

Operating steering wheel heating

1. Open the Air conditioner menu in the Infotainment system (→ Air conditioner menu in the Infotainment system).

2. Select the Classic Climate submenu.

3. To activate the highest heating level, tap .

4. Adjust the heating level by tapping repeatedly until the desired warmth is reached.

5. To switch off the heating, tap until the indicator turns gray.

Steering wheel heating switches on automatically

If the Volkswagen ID.4 is restarted within approximately ten minutes, the previously selected steering wheel heating level is automatically restored for added convenience.

Switching on steering wheel heating automatically at the beginning of the journey

1. Open the Air conditioner menu in the Infotainment system.

2. Access the Climate control settings submenu by tapping .

3. Enable the Steering wheel heating option.

Once the Volkswagen ID.4 is ready to drive, the system automatically activates steering wheel heating based on the outside temperature, ensuring immediate comfort.

Switching on Steering Wheel Heating automatically with the Smart Climate function

Direct warm air toward the steering wheel area.

The Smart Climate submenu is available depending on the vehicle configuration of the Volkswagen ID.4.

If the Smart Climate function is activated, steering wheel heating will automatically switch on at the lowest level.

If steering wheel heating was already active, the previously selected level remains unchanged.

Steering wheel heating switches off automatically

The steering wheel heating in the Volkswagen ID.4 automatically deactivates under the following conditions:

• If overall energy consumption becomes too high.
• If a malfunction in the system is detected.
