Limits of the sensor system

The Volkswagen ID.4 ACC system relies on radar sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and a front-facing camera mounted behind the windshield. The radar sensor can detect objects at distances of up to approximately 160 m (520 ft), but performance may vary depending on environmental conditions.

WARNING

Using ACC outside its operational limits in the Volkswagen ID.4 may result in accidents, serious injuries, or violations of traffic laws.

• Always understand the limitations of the sensor system and deactivate ACC when necessary.

Unrecognizable objects

The ACC system in the Volkswagen ID.4 is designed to detect vehicles traveling in the same direction or stationary vehicles under certain conditions. However, it cannot detect:

• Pedestrians
• Animals
• Crossing traffic or oncoming vehicles
• Various stationary obstacles

The Volkswagen ID.4 ACC system reacts only to a limited extent to stationary vehicles, particularly at speeds up to approximately 60 km/h (37 mph). The system will not perform emergency braking, and driver intervention is always required when approaching stopped traffic.

Response behavior depends on equipment level and may not be available in all regions.
