Volkswagen ID.4: Adjusting headlights (travel mode)

When driving your Volkswagen ID.4 in countries where traffic flows on the opposite side of the road, vehicles equipped with Dynamic Light Assist or dynamic cornering lights may produce a beam pattern that can dazzle oncoming traffic. To prevent this, the headlight alignment can be temporarily adjusted using the travel mode function in the Infotainment system (→ Vehicle settings menu).

For Volkswagen ID.4 vehicles that do not include Dynamic Light Assist or dynamic cornering light functionality, adjusting the headlights for travel mode is generally not required.

Travel mode is intended for short-term use only. For long-term changes, contact an authorized Volkswagen dealer or service facility to ensure proper headlight calibration.

Warning tones when lights are not turned off

If the ignition in the Volkswagen ID.4 is switched off and the driver’s door is opened, audible warning signals will sound under the following conditions:

• If the parking lights remain on.
• If the side lights are still active .
• If the rear fog light has not been switched off .

If orientation lighting is enabled in the Volkswagen ID.4, the warning tone indicating that lights are still on will not sound when exiting the vehicle (→ Orientation lighting).

Instrument and switch illumination

The brightness of the instrument panel lighting in the Volkswagen ID.4 can be individually adjusted via the Infotainment system settings (→ Vehicle settings menu), allowing for optimal visibility in all driving conditions.

Depending on the equipment level, the brightness of the head-up display can also be customized to suit driver preferences (→ Head-up display).

The selected brightness level automatically adapts to changing ambient lighting conditions inside the Volkswagen ID.4, ensuring comfort and readability at all times.

If automatic headlight control is enabled, a sensor will automatically activate or deactivate the low beam headlights as well as the instrument and switch illumination depending on external brightness conditions.

For best performance and safety, always ensure that all lighting systems in your Volkswagen ID.4 are correctly configured and functioning as intended, especially when driving in varying load conditions or unfamiliar environments.
