Volkswagen ID.4: Carrying Out Volkswagen Ident

To access security-related services in the Volkswagen ID.4, the identity of the primary user must be verified. This can be done either in person at an authorized Volkswagen dealer or service partner, or digitally using Volkswagen Ident via a secure video verification process in the app.

1. When prompted with an identity verification message while using a protected service in your Volkswagen ID.4, review the information and tap Start.

2. Prepare a valid identification document.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions provided within the Volkswagen ID.4 app or system.

Once verification is completed successfully, a confirmation message will appear.

One-time passcode method

For certain functions, such as installing a mobile key for the Volkswagen ID.4, the vTAN (one-time passcode) method is required:

1. Switch on the ignition and, if necessary, activate the Infotainment system in the Volkswagen ID.4.

2. Follow the instructions in both the We Connect app and the Infotainment system.

3. Enter the vTAN displayed in the app into the Infotainment system and confirm.

The vTAN procedure is now completed.

If the vTAN window does not appear automatically, you can manually request it via the Mobile key or User menu.
