The screen separator in the Volkswagen ID.4 is designed to significantly enhance safety by preventing loose objects from being thrown from the luggage compartment into the passenger area, especially during sudden braking or evasive maneuvers.
Depending on your cargo configuration, the screen separator in the Volkswagen ID.4 can be installed either behind the rear bench seat (→ Net partition behind the rear bench seat) or directly behind the front seats → fig. 1, providing flexible load protection.
Installing the net partition

1. Remove the screen separator from its storage bag, unroll it, and unfold it completely. Ensure that the hinge locks into place with a clearly audible click.
2. Fold down the rear seat backrests of the Volkswagen ID.4 to create sufficient installation space.
3. Move the front seats into an upright and locked position, positioning them as close as possible to the separator.
4. Attach one hook of the upper crossbar to a roof holder → fig. 1 -1-.
5. Slightly compress both ends of the crossbar and secure the second hook into the opposite roof mount.
6. Release the crossbar and verify that both hooks are securely engaged.
7. Attach the lower hooks to the fastening eyelets on the B-pillars next to the front seats → fig. 1 -2-.
Tensioning the screen separator
1. Pull the fastening straps backward until the screen separator is firmly tensioned → fig. 1 -3- →

2. Recheck the tension after adjusting the position of the front seats to ensure optimal safety in the Volkswagen ID.4.
WARNING
The fastening eyelets located on the B-pillars in the Volkswagen ID.4 are specifically designed only for securing the screen separator. Misusing these points for cargo restraint can lead to severe or fatal injuries.
Removing the net partition
1. Release the fastening straps → fig. 1 -3- by lifting the buckles → fig. 1 -4-.
2. Unhook the lower hooks from the B-pillar fastening eyelets → fig. 1 -2-.
3. Compress both ends of the upper crossbar and carefully remove it.
4. Pull the separator slightly backward and remove it downward from the roof mounts → fig. 1 -1-.
5. Press the release button on the crossbar joint and fold the separator.
6. Roll it up and place it back into its storage bag.
7. If necessary, return the rear seat backrests to their upright and locked position.
