Volkswagen ID.4: Installing the front towing eye

Depending on the market and specific equipment configuration of the Volkswagen ID.4, the threaded mount for the towing eye is located behind a removable cover in the front bumper. This design ensures both aesthetics and protection when the towing eye is not in use.

1. Before towing your Volkswagen ID.4, always confirm that the vehicle is equipped with a threaded mount for the towing eye.

Installing the front towing eye

1. Remove the towing eye from the Volkswagen ID.4 vehicle tool kit located in the luggage compartment.

2. Press on the marked section of the bumper cover in the direction of the arrow to release the locking mechanism → fig. 1.

3. Carefully remove the cover. You may allow it to hang temporarily or store it safely inside the Volkswagen ID.4 → .

4. Screw the towing eye clockwise into the threaded mount as far as it will go → fig. 2 → .

Use a suitable tool if necessary to ensure the towing eye is tightened firmly and securely.

5. After towing the Volkswagen ID.4, unscrew the towing eye by turning it counterclockwise.

6. Reinstall the cover by pressing it into place until it clicks securely.

7. Clean the towing eye if needed and return it to the vehicle tool kit.

NOTICE

If the towing eye is not fully tightened, it may detach during towing, potentially causing serious damage to the Volkswagen ID.4.

• Always ensure the towing eye is completely screwed in and firmly secured.
