If movement is detected inside the Volkswagen ID.4 while it is locked, the interior monitoring alarm is triggered → fig. 1.

If the system detects that the Volkswagen ID.4 is being lifted, tilted, or towed, the towing protection alarm will activate.

Activating interior monitoring and towing protection

1. Lock the Volkswagen ID.4.

Both interior monitoring and towing protection are automatically activated along with the anti-theft alarm system.

Depending on the equipment of your Volkswagen ID.4, accessories such as screen separators may affect sensor accuracy.

Deactivating interior monitoring and towing protection temporarily

The interior monitoring and towing protection systems in the Volkswagen ID.4 can be temporarily deactivated through the Infotainment system under the Open and Close submenu.

These systems remain deactivated until the next time the Volkswagen ID.4 is locked again.

They can also be switched off via the exit menu when the ignition is off.

To prevent false alarms, deactivate these systems in the following situations:

• If people or animals remain inside the Volkswagen ID.4.
• If the vehicle is being transported, shipped, or towed.
• If the Volkswagen ID.4 is in a car wash or a multi-level parking system.

Risks for false alarms from the interior monitoring function

The interior monitoring system in the Volkswagen ID.4 operates correctly only when the vehicle is fully closed. False alarms may occur in the following situations:

• If windows are partially or fully open.
• If loose objects inside the Volkswagen ID.4 move, such as paper or hanging tags.
• If a mobile phone vibration alarm is active inside the vehicle.

It is not possible to permanently deactivate interior monitoring and towing protection in the Volkswagen ID.4.

If doors or the trunk lid remain open when activating the alarm system, only the anti-theft alarm system will activate initially.

If these monitoring functions are disabled, the SAFELOCK feature in the Volkswagen ID.4 will also be deactivated.

Introduction

The trunk lid in the Volkswagen ID.4 locks and unlocks together with the doors, ensuring convenient and secure access.

On vehicles equipped with Keyless Access, the trunk lid unlocks automatically when opened.

If selective unlocking is activated, you may need to press the button on the remote control key twice to unlock the trunk lid of the Volkswagen ID.4.

With Keyless Access, the sensor on the inside of the door handle must also be activated twice.

WARNING

Unintentional or uncontrolled movement of the trunk lid in the Volkswagen ID.4 can cause serious injuries.

• Ensure that no one is in the path of the trunk lid when opening or closing it.
• Always keep the trunk lid securely closed while driving the Volkswagen ID.4.
• Lock all doors and the trunk lid when the vehicle is not in use.
• Verify that the trunk lid is fully closed and aligned with the body.

WARNING

Extreme temperatures inside the Volkswagen ID.4 can pose serious risks, especially to children and vulnerable individuals.

• Never leave anyone unattended inside the vehicle.
• Do not allow children to play in or around the trunk area.

WARNING

If the trunk lid of the Volkswagen ID.4 is not properly latched, it may open unexpectedly while driving, leading to dangerous situations.

• Always confirm that the trunk lid is securely closed before driving.

WARNING

Additional weight from snow or cargo on the trunk lid may cause it to close unexpectedly and result in injury.

• Remove snow or cargo before opening the trunk lid of the Volkswagen ID.4.
• Support the trunk lid if necessary.

WARNING

Improper handling when closing the trunk lid can damage the rear window and cause injury.

• Do not press on the rear window when closing the trunk lid.

NOTICE

Incorrect use of the opening mechanism in the Volkswagen ID.4 may damage components and prevent proper operation.

• Do not attach cargo to the trunk opening mechanism.

NOTICE

Improper use of the rear spoiler can result in damage or detachment.

• Do not secure cargo to the rear spoiler of the Volkswagen ID.4.
