Volkswagen ID.4: System Limitations of the Predictive Control
Volkswagen ID.4 2021-2026 (E21) Owner's Manual / System Limitations of the Predictive Control
In addition to the limitations of the Dynamic Road Sign Display, the predictive speed limiter in the Volkswagen ID.4 has the following constraints:
- It detects only traffic signs that explicitly display speed limits.
- Indirect signs, such as city entry signs, are interpreted based on navigation data.
- If navigation-based limits are not confirmed by road sign recognition, the system reverts to the previously stored speed.
- The function is not available for speeds below approximately 30 km/h (20 mph).
Functional limitations
In certain situations, the predictive speed limiter in the Volkswagen ID.4 may not function correctly or may respond with delay:
- If the Dynamic Road Sign Display system is malfunctioning.
- If navigation data is outdated.
- If driving without active route guidance.
- If deviating from the calculated navigation route.
- If GPS positioning is inaccurate.
Activating predictive control
1. Activate the speed limiter and start regulation (→ Speed limiter).
2. Enable predictive control via the Assistance systems menu in the Infotainment system of the Volkswagen ID.4.
The Volkswagen ID.4 integrates advanced speed management technologies that enhance both safety and efficiency, but optimal performance depends on proper usage and driver awareness.
